This is (part of) what’s so great about The Sarah Jane Adventures. Doctor Who is too fast-paced and forward-momentum most of the time to fit in touching reunion moments. SJA is centered around a Classic Who companion so you get things like the return of the Brig and Jo, which was SO wonderful (and even Sarah Jane’s speech about the other Classic companions she’s looked up). I’m so glad Nicholas Courtney made it into the New-Who era after how essential he was on Classic Who, and Jo’s extra closure with the Doctor really left me feeling more satisfied than when he snuck out in the middle of her party at the end of The Green Death.
